Mid air fortress (A poem by Phanuel Ayelum)

I’ve been at it for days;

Building these castles in thin air,

So absent from the present,

In a land far far away;

So far, it does not exist,

It is my mid air fortress!

That is where I find myself

When the masses have lost me

Just as much as I have lost myself.

In my mid air fortress,

I am always present-

Yet-

Lost in thought,

Surrounded by the abyss,

I experience the bliss

of my wildest dreams!

Roaming in my imagination,

I feel like the last scintilation,

Of a dark night,

Coated in twilight.

My mind wanders

Through my hopes and wonders.

In my mid air fortress;

I am limitless.

So much that I

Search for the meaning

In meaningless things

Recognizing that “meaningless”-

Cannot be spelled without meaning.

In my mid air fortress;

Everything makes perfect sense,

So I engrave it all,

On sheets of paper-

Hoping we can all experience,

This mid air fortress!
