Winter soul (A poem by Phanuel Ayelum)

It is a gift from the universe;

And I love the winter.

I refuse to keep warm,

I don’t mind the shiver.

The actions of my kind,

Have hurt Mother Nature.

My winter is short lived and displaced,

By rising temperature.

Heat waves come sweeping in,

I wave my winters goodbye.

I’d wish for a little more,

But it’s already the end of July!

I wish I could change the times-

I wish I could rewrite the calendar.

Sadly the flight of time has taken course,

And I am only a passenger.

When the Summer is due-

I will not be so bitter;

Instead I will write-

And await the winter…
