Fallen heights (A poem by Phanuel Ayelum)

Your words are wind;

And so they blew me off to cloud nine,

It all felt so magical,

And I thought you were mine.

I was held afloat-

Suspended in mid air,

I trusted you would break my fall

But when I fell, you weren’t there.

So I fell;

I fell for you,

Hearing nothing but your windy words

As they blew me into the blues.

I landed hard;

Landed on my head,

Land to my skull

I should have been dead

But I lived;

Paramedics diagnosed me with amnesia,

I suffered memory loss

I had no clue how I got there..

So I went looking for clues

And guess what I found…

I found you-

The whole reason I crashed onto the ground…

Then you spoke;

You spoke again-

And I hovered back to those heights

With absolutely no recollection of the pain

And so I keep falling;

Day and night-

Waiting on you to catch me;

Woe to my fallen heights….
