If I was a poet (A poem by Phanuel Ayelum)

If I was a poet;

I’d write poems a lot,

Speak to your heart

With the magic of my thoughts.

If I was a poet;

I’d be one with my poetry,

Like thoughts and a mind,

Or like a mind and a body.

I’d choose my words with care;

With such determined craftsmanship.

I’d have mastered the patterns in interaction,

Maybe even been in a relationship.

If I was a poet;

I’d write about how hearts beat like music,

I’d write about how I find that amusing

And somewhat poetic.

If I was a poet;

I’d make the strangest connections,

Observe and create interesting patterns,

I’d be the art of my imaginations.

If I was a poet;

I’d write about how I love the winter,

I’d write silly poems,

I’d hobby being a writer.

And;

If I was a poet;

I’d write to change lives,

I’d write to inspire wisdom

In every readers mind.

I’d write out speech;

Words that speak in hearts,

I’d connect with you,

In every line of art.

I’d mimic life in my words;

Each phrase would show it.

I’d be so deep in thought;

If I was a poet!
