The Missing Half

We have always hidden behind the mask of what we should be afraid.

Afraid of what would become a silent agreement was made between you and me.

We remain two souls burning with the need to see each other happy. Even if we weren’t the source of each others happiness.

But with each ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye ‘ the sparks grew into a bright flame, not forgetting the occasional ‘I love you’ that we threw around so lightly yet meant every word. Well at least I did.

For long I chose to think I’d get over my fondness. That I might just misplace it. But I couldn’t, no matter how hard I tried.

My affection for you was one I couldn’t hide. My heart found its rhythm in your voice. Every look you gave me told the tale of how you would do anything to protect me.

Your arms built a safe heaven for me and your personality became a home that I never wanted to live. You helped me see who I really was.

It was as though we were a looking glass for each other, reflecting an image of ourselves that nobody but ourselves could see.

Therefore without each other it was useless to exist.
